Our topic, the Fall of the Berlin Wall, is a facinating topic to learn about. Basically, Germany was divided into four sectors, but unfortunately, the East was ruled by the Soviet Union, and was communist. As West Germany's economy became better, citizens in the East fled to West. When the East had lost a ton of its people, drastic measures had to be taken; build a wall to prevent more from escaping. We selected this topic by narrowing down our choices. First chose events the were not in the U.S. Then we looked for one that involved a country's own dilemma. In the end, our remaining topic was the Berlin Wall.
We conducted our research by fusing the important details together to summarize the topic. The majority of our sources, of course, was located on the internet, but we did manage to find some books specifically about the Berlin Wall. Although, the digital sources were most contributing. One of the issues when locating the sources was looking for the website's details when not easily displayed, as in its author.
We selected a website as our presentation category for it was very interactive to complete. We accomplished this project by getting sources and putting them together in a website. Our group had fun while working on the project, but what wasn't enjoyable was when breakin apart a certain part and deciding who does what part. Sometimes, we didn't get to do what we wanted, which is fine.
Our thesis, "the fall of the Berlin Wall is a turning point in history because it symbolized Europe as a no communist continent and it marked the end of the Cold War," is saying that our topic had a big impact, especially in Europe at toward the Soviet Union. This topic relates to the NHD theme because it had the capability to end a war and remove communism from Europe. And so as Germans live life, the ones who live to tell the population about the Berlin Wall, remember Iron Curtain as a symbol of a nation's achievement in solving their own problems.
